To The Heather!

The Leeds BKA trip out to the heather went well this year. This photo shows a hive aloft on an appropriate heather stand made from a pallet. It is still strapped up and waiting to be released. This is an annual event for beekeepers that we always encourage association member to attend. Heather honey is considered after all, the King of all honey's

This hive is a 14*12 with 2 supers on top. The owner, Shane had shaken more bees in to the hive this last week and drifted bees in to the hive from other nearby colonies to maximise the bees in the box in the hopes of maximising a heather crop. Heather gods willing, we pray for fine weather this August and a good years heather crop.
