Councillor Lucinda Yeadon Apiary Visit
Here at Leeds Beekeepers Association we are always trying to make more people aware of how important honey bees are to the enviroment and wider economy. It was great to see Councillor Lucinda Yeadon on behalf of Leeds City Council, take up an offer from Chair Duncan Brearley to come to the Leeds Beekeepers Association Temple Newsam apiary. Lucinda arrived with a colleague and we got them both dressed in bee suits and then straight into a hive to see what the buzz is all about. It was a great afternoon where we got to chat about how Leeds Beekeepers Association gives talks about honey bees to schools and local community groups, provides training to people who want to learn more about keeping bees, runs taster sessions for people who want to know more about one of our most important pollinators and attended events to promote honey bee welfare. A good afternoon was had by all.
